ASF

ASF (cut-through) Mode

ASF

Show the cut-through (Alternate Store and Forward, ASF) configuration of ports and its diagnostics. To change the mode of a port, use PORT PBMP asf.

The first word is show or diag, typed in full; anything else prints error: incorrect argument. Both need a port bitmap (see Ports and port bitmaps); an empty bitmap prints nothing. On chips without multi-mode cut-through the command prints ASF: Command not implemented.

Both forms only read state and are safe on a running switch. On a SONiC Trident 3 switch with the default configuration every port shows SAF (store-and-forward) with no cut-through speed range (.. NA ..).

ASF show <pbmp>

Print, per port, the cut-through mode and the speed range (from/to) for which cut-through applies, under a two-line header ending in port        mode          range (from/to).

Hardware-validated

drivshell> asf show ce0
         cut-through cut-through speed
port mode range (from/to)
ce0 SAF .. NA ..
ASF diag <pbmp>

Print per-port cut-through details: mode, class, minimum and maximum source port speed, FIFO threshold and depth, transmit start count per source class, MMU prebuffer, MMU and egress credits, and RX pause. A legend explaining the column abbreviations follows the table.

Unvalidated

drivshell> asf diag ce0

Built-in help

ASF Configurations Summary & Diagnostics.
Parameters: [show | diag] <pbmp>
Example: asf show [ce0 | hg1 | ce,hg]
Example: asf diag [ce0 | hg1 | ce,hg]
<pbmp> is a standard port bitmap (see "help pbmp").
To configure ASF on port(s), use 'port <pbmp> asf <mode>' command
