MemSCAN

Turn on/off software memory error scanning

MemSCAN

Shortest form: mscan.

Show or control the SDK’s background memory scan, which reads the tables that the SDK keeps cached (see CACHE) and repairs soft errors in them. Without arguments it prints whether the scan is running, its interval and its rate:

MemSCAN: Running on unit 0
MemSCAN: Interval: <n> usec
MemSCAN: Rate: <n>

(Not running when stopped). This form is read-only. On a SONiC Trident 3 switch the scan is not running: Not running on unit 0, interval 0, rate 4096.

Grammar: memscan [Interval=<usec>] [Rate=<entries>] [on | off]. off stops the scan and remembers its settings, on restarts it with them, and Interval=0 also stops it. Rate=0 is refused. Changing the scan changes the soft-error protection that syncd configured.

Hardware-validated

drivshell> memscan
MemSCAN: Not running on unit 0
MemSCAN: Interval: 0 usec
MemSCAN: Rate: 4096

Unvalidated

drivshell> memscan off

Built-in help

Interval specifies how often to run (0 to stop)
Rate specifies the number of entries to process per interval
Any memories that are cached will be scanned (see 'cache' command)
