FLASHINIT

Initialize on board flash as a file system

FLASHINIT

Prepare an on-board flash disk on the embedded systems this SDK also runs on. SONiC switches have no such flash support, so the command has no useful effect:

  • Format=yes warns Formatting flash will destroy all files, asks OK to continue (yes/no)? (which blocks bcmcmd), and then fails with Unable to Initialize flash file system.

  • Loader=<file> fails with Unable to flash loader image.

  • OS=<file> copies the file to a file named flash:bcm in syncd’s working directory.

With no argument it prints the usage.

Unvalidated

drivshell> flashinit Format=no

Built-in help

Parameters: [format=yes|no] [loader=<os-loader>] [OS=<os_file>]
Format (clear) the flash disk contents if a flash disk is available
The command ALWAYS prompts for confirmation from the console.
