PKTIO

Set/Display TX/PacketWatcher with streamlined pktio driver type

PKTIO

Show or switch which implementation the shell uses for TX and PacketWatcher. In PKTIO mode both commands go through the streamlined “PKTIO” packet driver instead, and they accept a smaller set of options. With no argument the command prints TX/PW using PKTIO mode is on (or off). on/off must be written in full. Any other word prints PKTIO subcommand '<word>' not found and the help.

Whether the mode can be switched depends on the pktio_driver_type setting in config.bcm. The mode is reset from that setting whenever the shell or the system is initialised. On SONiC Trident 3 PKTIO mode is normally off. pktio changes only which shell commands run; it does not touch the switch.

Hardware-validated

drivshell> pktio
TX/PW using PKTIO mode is off
PKTIO ON

Switch TX and PacketWatcher to the PKTIO driver. When pktio_driver_type is not set, it only prints PKTIO is not available when spn_PKTIO_DRIVER_TYPE = 0.

Unvalidated

drivshell> pktio on
PKTIO OFF

Switch back to the standard TX and PacketWatcher. When pktio_driver_type is set to 1 this is refused with Disabling PKTIO mode when spn_PKTIO_DRIVER_TYPE = 1 is not allowed.

Unvalidated

drivshell> pktio off
