HeaderMode

Get or set packet tx header mode

HeaderMode

Shortest form: hm.

Show or set the header format that TX and TXSTArt use when they build packets. The setting belongs to the shell and changes nothing on the switch. It selects which header options tx accepts.

The modes are Ieee (plain Ethernet, the default), Higig, B5632, Higig2, Higig3 and Raw. They must be written in full; case does not matter. The command prints Current header mode for unit <u> is now <mode> (<n>)., where <n> is the mode’s position in that list, counting from 0. Without an argument the word “now” is left out. An unknown mode prints the current mode and then the help.

The built-in help says the mode “only has an effect for BCM5670 and related devices”. In practice it changes which tx options are accepted on any chip.

Unvalidated

drivshell> headermode ieee

Usage seen on another chip: hm ieee (bcm cmd).

Built-in help

Parameters: [mode]
With no mode, shows packet header mode of current unit.
Although the header mode may be set for any device,
it only has an effect for BCM5670 and related devices
  Supported modes are:
      Ieee -- no encapusulation
Higig -- Use parsed HiGig header information
      Higig2 -- Use parsed HiGig2 header information
      Higig3 -- Use parsed HiGig3 header information
      B5632 -- Use parsed BCM5632 header information
