RX

Receive some number of packets

RX

Hidden: not listed by help or ?.

Receive <count> packets on the CPU with the legacy SOC DMA interface. The built-in help calls the command “mostly obsolete” and recommends PacketWatcher instead.

rx takes exactly one integer argument; anything else prints the usage. It refuses to run while PacketWatcher is running (<cmd>: Error: Packetwatcher running). It waits until the packets arrive and prints nothing on success, only Dma Failed or allocation errors.

Warning

On a running syncd, rx competes with the SAI and KNET receive path for packets and blocks the shell until its packets arrive. Do not use it on a production switch.
