SCHan

Send raw S-Channel message, get response

SCHan

Shortest form: sch.

Send a raw S-channel message (the command channel between the CPU interface and the ASIC’s blocks) built from the given 32-bit words, wait for the reply and print the reply buffer as hex words. Unset words are zero. On failure it prints S-Channel operation failed: <error>.

Warning

A raw message can read, write or run table operations on any block, unchecked and behind SONiC’s back. A malformed message can time out or wedge the S-channel that syncd uses for every hardware access.

The message format (opcode, destination block, length, address) is chip-specific and not described here.
