RateBw

Set/Display port bandwidth rate metering characteristics

RateBw

Shortest form: rb.

Show or set per-port bandwidth limits (storm control, in kbit/s) for broadcast, multicast or DLF traffic.

RateBw <pbmp> <bcast | mcast | dlf> [<rate> <max_burst>]

Rate is in kilobits per second and burst in kilobits. Any prefix of the traffic type works (b, mc, d). Without a rate, each port shows Bandwidth meter: <n> kbps <n> kbits max burst. A rate without a burst is rejected with missing port burst size. A bitmap with no Ethernet port prints No ports specified. Chips without storm control print bandwidth limit unavailable for this device.

On a SONiC Trident 3 switch, a port without a bandwidth limit for the traffic type prints nothing at all: ratebw ce0 bcast returns straight to the prompt.

Showing is read-only. Setting overrides storm control that SONiC configures (PORT_STORM_CONTROL); SONiC does not see the change.

Hardware-validated — Show the broadcast bandwidth limit of ce0 (read-only)

drivshell> ratebw ce0 bcast

Unvalidated — Limit DLF flooding on ce0 to 10 Mbit/s with a 512 kbit burst (changes the ASIC)

drivshell> ratebw ce0 dlf 10000 512

Built-in help
