ASSert

Shortest form: ass.

Deliberately trigger a failed assertion in the SDK, to test assertion handling. It prints ERROR: Assertion failed: ((1 == 2)) at … and then either asks ERROR: Continue or quit (c/q)? or aborts the process. Arguments are ignored.

Warning

Under SONiC this is expected to abort syncd, with a core dump and a restart of the switch’s dataplane. It also changes how every later SDK assertion is handled. Never run it on a production switch.
